Ofsted inspectors have praised Family Hub Livesey for meeting the needs of local children and providing exceptional support for those who need it most.

Staff, families and children at the hub are celebrating following an outstanding judgement from Ofsted.

The Blackburn nursery received an inspection in June and has been told it has children’s well-being at the core of the curriculum and that children are visibly happy and thriving!

The glowing report said:

Children arrive at nursery with big smiles and are greeted by warm and welcoming staff. The environment is expertly planned and helps children to feel safe and secure. The atmosphere is kept calm, for example, with fairy lights and gentle music playing. Staff show a deep understanding of children’s individual needs and preferences, and children with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) arrive to familiar, nurturing routines.

Councillor Julie Gunn, Executive Member for Children’s Services, said:

"Congratulations Livesey Family Hub, I’m so proud of all the amazing work that you do. All our Family Hubs and Children Centres are inspiring and fully deserve the ‘outstanding’ recognition."

Director of Children’s Services and Education, Joanne Siddle continued:

"Thank you to all our wonderful staff who always go above and beyond to make sure that our children get the best support. As the report says ‘staff use strategies learned through specialist training and precisely assess what each child needs.’ This is exactly where our strength lies, making sure each child is treated individually and their needs met."

The report also states how the curriculum is highly inclusive, ambitious and aspirational for all children. Leaders have a clear and well-informed understanding of what their children need to learn most. Staff are highly trained to provide the best care and learning support for every child.

The support for children with SEND was also said to be a significant strength with  leaders using all available funding with great care and purpose.

Relationships and partnerships were mentioned as particularly strong and how excellent partnerships with parents make a real difference to the outcomes for children.

The outstanding judgement for Livesey is another well-deserved recognition following Children’s Services in Blackburn with Darwen’s ‘Good’ in April following a three week inspection.

Two of the council’s own children’s homes SEEDS and Apple Trees have also received outstanding judgements this year.
