Information on Age UK, a local charity which provides a range of community based services

Age UK provide a range of community based services and activities for people aged 50 and over and their carers, including those living with dementia.

The Care Act 2014 says that you are entitled to an assessment of your needs. If you are eligible, you may be able to get support from adult social care. Please see our care and support page for more details.

Age UK run free advice and information drop-in services at Blackburn library and Darwen town hall. They also offer home visits, and support to older people to make informed choices about care, support, and to access any benefits they are entitled to.

  • Digital support to help you get online
  • Community Day Care service
  • Nail care - toenail cutting service from a number of clinics
  • Integrated Care - support for people living with long term health conditions
  • Memory Makers sessions for those struggling with memory loss, at venues in Blackburn and Darwen
  • Social inclusion activities, including social groups
  • Talks to groups and organisations
  • Wayfinder Dementia Support Service, for people living with dementia and their carers
